Art Heroes

Ever since I was a little girl, I have loved art. I love many, many different kinds and many, many different artists, and I love them each for different reasons. Of all of those artists, three stand out as my art heroes, for their amazing art and their incredible life stories.


First up is and will always be Georgia O'Keefe. An amazing woman who paved her own way in the then male-dominated world of art, doing things unique and true to herself. I have seen a lot of her work in person, and I am always amazed at how sure of her brushstrokes she was, and at the fresh perspective she brought to everything.

Second up is Edward Hopper whose work captures the essence of life to me. He paints light amazingly, and I could get wrapped up in one of his paintings for hours on end.

Finally, a nod to the more abstract. Marcel Duchamp's cubist work has so much detail, it's hard not to love.
